New Still Life Painting

Hi all,

This week I've been doing some planning in the studio and rearranged the "in studio" painting set-up. I built a little still life box to set up my subject so I can paint freely without worry that the set-up will be in the way when I frame or do other studio work. Well...I am happy to say this new set-up is perfect for my schedule. Over the past week I've managed to work at a very comfortable pace and not have too much clutter in my small studio. Nothing was in "the way" and I've been able to frame, paint, and work on the computer without fear of messing something up, or just feeling cluttered.

Here is a look at the 8 x 10 panel with the subject set-up in the background...

Here is a better look at the subject itself...

...and finally a look at the finished painting...
The quality of the photographs is hurried...it is a bit later than I want to be in the studio for a Saturday but I was a bit excited to show you what I've been working on.

In the near future I plan to produce a lot more of these still life studies as well as a few larger pieces too. The goal for 2009 is to produce a lot of new work and I believe this new set-up, along with my plein air painting plans will surely make life a lot easier.
