iPhone Shopping List Not Just for Groceries

Hi All,

The Grocery Gadget App for the iPhone is my newest favorite app. At first I was just trying to make the grocery shopping easier but I had an idea. I figured, why couldn't I make a grocery list of the art supplies I use? So I spent some time putting my paints, brushes, canvas panels, and other regularly purchased items in the "Art Supplies" grocery list I created in the app. Now, when I am running low on a color, I simply add it to my list so I have a check list to use the next time I am out getting supplies.

The paid app allows one to create multiple lists. I have a grocery list, art supplies list, wish list, home bar supplies list, and a local specialty store list I use for apples, apple cider, etc.

Visit the App Store to get your copy of the Grocery Gadget App HERE

There is so much this little app can do...I recommend visiting the Grocery Gadget website to learn more (LINK)

Artwork Delivered

"Marble, Books, & Buckeyes" Oil on Panel

© 2009 Michael Warth

Artwork delivered to the gallery for the one month exhibit at Gallery at Ninety-Seven in Chillicothe, Ohio. Opening night is Saturday, November 14, 2009, 6:00 PM. In future posts I will share some information for my artist friends about how to prepare for a show, what one can expect, and more.

For those of you attending the Gallery Stroll in Chillicothe on the 14th you may see me work at Ivy's Home and Garden as well as at Gallery Ninety-Seven. All of the artwork is going to be at Gallery at Ninety-Seven November 16 - December 10th. Sixteen original paintings are in this particular exhibit and it is the first time in nearly a year since I have shown artwork in Chillicothe. I am a bit nervous because the last two places downtown to show my work caught fire and destroyed several pieces (The Carlisle Building, and the Majestic Box Office fires).

In addition to my work there are other artists involved in the Gallery Stroll Saturday as well as a few artists in the gallery at Gallery at Ninety-Seven. Hope to see you there.

Shooting Artwork

Saturday night I was shooting artwork for an upcoming show. Keep in mind my studio is small - and when I say small I mean I really need a better space. However, it works and is easy to keep clean (I just don't keep anything).

The setup: (see image)
The picture (taken with the iPhone) illustrates the overall setup. Nikon D70s tethered to an Apple MacBook Pro (running Camera Control Pro 2). Lights (SB-800) triggered using Pocket Wizards (yeah I know - Overkill for the space but I have them so I use them).

Details:
Ambient Light -

Sylvania 40W Designer Warm White Plus - color corrected lamps. I diffuse the light a little bit with the scrim (see it hanging in the setup pic)

SB-800 flashes -

  • Roscoe #3208 Quarter Blue Filter
  • 1/16 Power +1/3 EV
  • Zoom to 28 mm – F5.6
Camera Settings -
  • 28 - 75mm f/2.8 Tamron Lens (at 38 mm for this shoot)
  • Shutter set to 1/250 (yeah I know it kills the ambient light but it looked good to me)
  • Aperture set to f5.0
  • ISO set to 200 (lowest for the D70s)
  • All images shot in RAW and edited using Adobe Camera Raw
  • Camera and Software color space is AdobeRGB
Completed Image (Red Wine with Grapes - Oil on Canvas)

That's all for now - hope you enjoyed the post.

A Fresh New Start

Hi All,

"Michael's Art Blog" is changing a little. Over the next few weeks the look of this blog will be changing. In addition to the look, I hope to focus new posts on the "art" of Warth Arts. I plan to share up to date information for the Warth Arts companies Michael Warth Fine Art, Warth Photo, and Warth Media. The idea is to share the entire creative life with you.

I can't wait to get busy on the NEW blog concept and start sharing what truly excites me!

Cheers,

Michael
